A priest’s warning : I’ll make you do sit ups if you wish me Happy New Year

A Telangana preist of the Chilkur Balaji temple, CS Rangarajan said that, he does not like being wished Happy New Year. He said that he will make the devotees do sit ups if they wish him new year. Rangarajan advocates against celebrating Englishman’s new year and promotes Ugadi, the Telgu new year (Gudi Padwa).

Speaking to TNM, Rangarajan defended his statement, and said that he is glad that his remarks have gone viral. “Every year I say the same to the devotees during the months of November and December, but this is the first time that my view has got a wider reach,” he said.
