New Delhi: Top court of India questions Uttar Pradesh Government regarding the protection of the family of the 19- year old Dalit gang rape victim in Hathras. To know what steps are being taken regarding this, Supreme Court sent a notice to Uttar Pradesh Government. SC also asked if the family has got a lawyer.

A petition was filed by the social activist, Satyama Dubey and others who demanded Central Bureau of Investigation probe into the case that shook the nation. The petition called it a fair investigation and pointed out how UP police was working on this case which also included the secret cremation of the body without the proper consent of the family and fall out with the opposition leaders who came to Hathras to visit the victim’s family.

The court also questioned the women’s group why they didn’t approached Allahabad High Court and why their lawyer Kirti Singh said to transfer the case, which is already pending in this court.

“The Allahabad High Court is hearing the case… we have views on High Court … If the High Court also assured the petitioners that it would ensure a “Smooth investigation” in this case.” Said SA Bobde, Chief Justice of Allahabad High Court.
