Zendaya Becomes Youngest Lead Drama Actress to Win Emmy Award!

‘Euphoria’ Star Zendaya Becomes The youngest Emmy Award Winner for Lead Actress in Drama.Zendaya made history, not only taking her first Emmy Award win for HBO’s Euphoria but also becoming the youngest to ever do so in this category at 24.

Zendaya is the only second Black actress to claim the lead drama actress award, following Viola Davis’ groundbreaking 2015 win for ‘How to Get Away With Murder’.

Zendaya said her ‘ heart was filled ‘ when she saw her fellow nominees including Jennifer Aniston cheering for her as she becomes the youngest drama lead actress to win an Emmy.

Zendaya thanked her family, team, and ‘Euphoria’ creator Sam Levinson.” I appreciate you so much, you’re my family”, said Zendaya, addressing Levinson, who based the series on his battle with drug addiction. She added ” I’m grateful for Rue. I’m so grateful that you trusted me with your story. “

After thanking the TV academy her cast members, and show creator and EP Sam Levinson, she made sure to acknowledge the youth.

Zendaya won for her gritty portrayal of teenage drug addict Rue on the HBO high school drama, and this attention from the Television Academy for it marked her first-ever major awards attention in general.

Zendaya bested star actress like Jennifer Aniston, Olivia Colman, Laura Linney, and Jodie Comer, who until today, held the title for the youngest to receive this award.

Season 2 of Euphoria is currently in the works but the production was placed on hold due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
