Naked Prisoners in Philippine jail photo causes Uproar, view pics!

Recent photos surfaced online showing hundreds of Philippine’s jail prisoners sitting naked while being searched for drugs have triggered world media over the possible Human rights violation by Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte.

According to the reports, the prisoners of the Cebu provincial jail were woken up before the dawn on Tuesday, Feb 28 and were forced to strip down naked, after this anti-drug agents, police and prison officers searched their cells.

The photos were released by Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency showed the prisoners sitting naked and cross-legged in neat rows on the jail premises, and were guarded by armed gunmen.

Drug enforcement agency released a statement, stated that the police has raided “several packets” of methamphetamine and marijuana leaves, as well as mobile phones and knives.

The human rights groups have voiced their concern over the pictures. Amnesty International said in a statement “This incident clearly amounts to the cruel, inhumane and degrading treatment of prisoners,” Amnesty International said in a statement.

Human Rights Watch also criticised the search procedure and said that the international standards prohibited searches that intimidated or unnecessarily intruded upon a prisoner’s privacy.

“The conduct of these searches – out in the open and permitting photographs to be taken – was inhuman and degrading and violated the prisoners’ rights to privacy,” Human Rights Watch said in a statement.
