Man compaints about getting failed in driving test, gets fined and jailed instead

A 25-year-old Indian man has been sentenced to three months in jail and a fine of Dh500,000 (approximately Rs 87 Lakhs) for abusing Dubai’s Road Transport Authority (RTA) in a mail.

According to the complaint, the man accused the RTA of ripping of poor people by making them intentionally fail in driving tests and forcing them to repeat the test.

He wrote the mail after he failed in a driving license test last year.

The RTA reported the incident to police who booked him under the UAE laws that prohibit ‘mocking and humiliating a public authority’.

During questioning, the man admitted to sending the email using his iPhone.

“I’m not guilty. I sent an email in which I was just trying to explain what happened with me,” the man told judges.

“I was under frustration,” the accused argued in court.
