If anyone should tell the story of Madonna Louise Ciccone, it should be the Material girl herself. A biopic about Madonna has found a uniquely qualified director Madonna herself.
Comcast Corp’s Universal Pictures on Tuesday announced that the studio is developing an untitled biopic film on Madonna and the pop music superstar will herself direct and co-write the film.
The superstar Madonna will team with Oscar-Winning ‘Juno’s screenwriter Diablo Cody on writing the script.The film will follow Madonna’s rise from New York City’s Slum to the heights of global stardom which itself is a rare accomplishment.
The pop superstar Madonna said in a statement that ‘The focus of this film will be always in music. Music has kept me going and art has kept me Alice’s. There are so many untold and inspiring stories and who better to tell it than me.’
Madonna’s career spans almost four decades and has gone far beyond music as she has made inroads into art, movies, fashion, and charity. She burst onto the 1980s music scene and established herself as the Queen of Pop with best -selling albums such as Like a Virgin, True Blue, and Like a Prayer, pushing the envelope of topics such as sex, religion, and race and established herself as a feminist icon.
Over her five-decade career, she also acted in movies including ‘Evita’ and ‘ A league of their own ‘ and directed and wrote the film ‘W. /E.’ about the British Royal abdication scandal in the 1930s.
The film will be produced by Amy Pascal, the former Sony Pictures chief who produced A league of their own, the 1992 film co-starring Madonna.
The ‘Material Girl’s and ‘ Express Yourself’ Singer is the best -selling female music artist of all time with global sales of 335 million records.
