Senator Kamala Harris of California scripted history on Wednesday as she became the first Indian -American woman to accept the nomination for vice president from a major political party in the US.

In her acceptance speech, Senator Kamala Harris acknowledged her husband, her children, her sister, her niece, her godchildren, her uncle aunts, and her chithis”, and her “chithis”. The use of Tamil word ” Chithi ” meaning Aunt set the social media abuzz as many people pointed out this was the first time that a Tamil word was spoken at such a big convention.
For most people in India it was emotional and pride moment as they resemble connectivity with the word. The speech went viral on social media even as the search for the meaning of the word “chithi” on Google.
