Baba Ramdev to make a bid for IPL after Vivo discontinued on a short notice

New Delhi: Indian Yoga Guru Baba Ramdev is considering to bid his brand Patanjali for the title sponsorship for much awaited Indian Premier League 2020. Thus, replacing the Chinese mobile brand Vivo which was the title sponsor of IPL since 2016. “We are considering the IPL sponsorship this year since we want to give the Patanjali brand a global marketing platform.” said S.K Tijarawala, the Spokesperson of Patanjali. “We are considering the IPL sponsorship this year since we want to give the Patanjali brand a global marketing platform.” said S.K Tijarawala, the Spokesperson of Patanjali. According to Tijarawala, Patanjali is going to make a proposal for Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). In 2017, Vivo made a five-year contract (2018-22) with BCCI with a winning bid of Rs. 2,199 crores. However, due to India-China conflict and Vivo’s market losses during COVID-19 pandemic, Vivo had to withdraw from the title sponsorship from IPL 2020. On 6th August 2020, BCCI announced that Vivo will not be the title sponsor for IPL 2020.
