Aadhaar Card May Soon Be Compulsory For Booking A Free Ambulance In UP.

We are in a time where stories about people being denied ambulances at a crucial moment are all time high, The UP government has decided to make it more difficult to access Ambulance services to normal people. TOI has reported that UP government is making Aadhaar Card mandatory for people to book free ambulance. If someone calls for an ambulance he or his relative will have to show their Aadhaar Card to the official first.

UP Government’s new move is to reduce fraudulent use of ambulance as UP health department official told TOI that ambulance driver often get fake calls about emergency and it costs them money because of fuel spent in the trips.

“The state government has instructed us that whenever anyone calls for an ambulance, his Aadhaar card must be produced,” Bijnor CMO Suhveer Singh, was quoted by the newspaper as saying.

Earlier this month, due to the negligence of health dept. authorities, a man was forced to carry his niece’s body on a bicycle from a district hospital in Kaushambi. The administration failed to arrange an ambulance as there was no budget for fuel. Yogi Adityanath led UP govt. has yet to decide the date to make Aadhaar Card mandatory for people.
