People remember their roles even after three decades of intervals of Parveen Babi’s active film career. When there was a trend for wearing good girls’ salwar suits and saris on cinematic curtains, then in the Western style, Parveen Babi gave the film director BR Ishara the first time with the cricketer Salim Durrani in the film ‘Character’ in 1973. The film got flopped, but the magic of Parveen Babi started.

BR Ishara was looking for a new actress, on such a day, he had a look at Parveen Babi, who was smoking the cigarette at that time and the gesture decided that he got his actress. Parveen Babi was cast against Amitabh Bachchan in the first hit movie ‘Majboor’ in 1974. The first Bollywood artist to get a place on the cover of the time was Parveen Babi.

The success achieved in cinematic careers was not achieved in her personal life. Her first relationship was with Danny. Danny had told in an interview to Filmfare that Parveen Babi and his three-fours friends were always with her, after which the two had separated. After Danny, the love of Parveen Babi was with Kabir Bedi.

Parveen Babi wrote a memoir in ‘The Illustrated Weekly of India’ – “My career has never been better than this. I am in number one race. There is no such film in Bombay, which does not have Parveen Babi. People are amazed at my successful return. Many people are saying this is my luck to me, but I want to tell you that there is no luck,  it is absolutely sweat and tears which are difficult to deal with broken heart to come.

After Parveen’s remarks about breaking life with Kabir Bedi, the turning point of his life, Mahesh Bhatt was romantically involved. Both of them started romancing in late 1977. He left his wife and daughter Pooja Bhatt and lived with Parvin Babi. This was the period when Parveen was the star of the peak and Mahesh Bhatt was a flop filmmaker.

During romance with Mahesh Bhatt, Parveen developed a mental illness which Mahesh Bhatt has described in his many interviews as Paranoid Schizophrenia. However, Parveen Babi did not disclose herself to the disease. She certainly believed that genetic psychological illness had taken her into grip. In 1983, Parveen Babi left Bollywood. She stayed in Bangalore for some time, then went to America. In the USA there was no cure for his mental illnesses.

Parvin came back to India in 1989 and stayed in Mumbai till 2005, away from the glitter of Bollywood. Her suspicions with Amitabh Bachchan were being made until the last time. In a TV interview, she said that Amitabh Bachchan is being selected as the star of the century, with the likes of Marilyn Brando, Elvis Presley, Laurence Oliver and Michael Jackson, what could be a bigger joke.

After the suspicion that due to mental illness and the extent of eccentricity, Parvin’s case remained self-reliant till the last days of he life, and no one was indebted. But it is also true that in the last days of the Parveen matter, all the people had forgotten the producers who sat in front of the house of Parveen Babi. For almost a decade, stardom and nearly 50 films did not fill the desolation of their lives; this loneliness also kept her  till the last time.
