I am not a baby making machine: Vidya Balan on her pregnancy news. Oohlala!

Married female celebrities are always on the radar of the media. Even if a celebrity is visiting a doctor for normal checkup it becomes a headline in the newspaper that ‘she is pregnant’.

Vidya Balan’s, recent frequent visits to the hospital sparked pregnancy rumours. Recently, she slammed everyone for intriguing her personal space.

“What is this baby obsession? I am not a baby-making machine. Anyway, the world population is on a rise. If some people don’t have children, it’s fine,” she told a daily newspaper.

Vidya’s new movie ‘Begum Jaan’ trailer is appreciated by critics and is now talk of the town. She said, “That’s the quintessential aspect that made me instantly identify with Begum Jaan. I ferociously guard my space. There are times when I retreat and be all by myself,” says the actress.

She even pointed out the fact that celebrity does not get their own private space. She said, “This is overwhelming and can understand that people always want a little bit from us”.

She further added, “I don’t think it’s anyone’s business except mine and my husband’s (Siddhartha Roy Kapur). It was a serious invasion of our privacy, but our country is such. Neighbours and relatives constantly ask us. The day I got married, one of my uncles told me at the wedding venue, ‘Next time I see you [her and Siddhartha], I should be looking at three people, not two’. This was even before our wedding pictures could be clicked. I politely laughed because we hadn’t even decided on our honeymoon destination then.”

She finally concluded by saying that, “It is annoying. I could be going to a clinic for an acne too! Why is it that every time a woman, post marriage, visits a doctor, there are whispers of her pregnancy?” she added.

We should applaud her candid reply and appreciate her that she does not have to follow any conventional path to become complete.
