Pixar’s upcoming animation movie Soul was supposed to hit theatres but due to coronavirus outbreak, Disney decided to release this film directly to its OTT platform Disney+ Hotstar on December 25. Regions which do not have Disney+ will get a theatrical release. Soul is the upcoming Pixar movie which features the voice of Jamie Foxx and Tina Fey in the lead.
According to the reports, Marvel’s Black Widow has got its release date delayed for the second time i.e. from November 6 to May 2021. James Bond’s No Time to Die will release on April 2021 instead of November 2020 and DC Comics’ Wonder Woman 1984 will release on Christmas 2020 in theatres.
Apart from Pixar’s Soul, Disney’s Mulan get its direct OTT release on Disney+ Hotstar on December 4, 2020 in English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu respectively.
Wonder Woman 1984 was supposed to be release in December 2019, but due to its clash with Star Wars: The Rise of the Skywalker, it shifted to 2020.
Soul is not the first Disney movie which is being delayed due to coronavirus pandemic, many films like Hamilton, Togo, and Sci-fi film Artemis Fowl directly got released on Disney+ Hotstar.
Soul is the story of Joe Gardener who is a middle- school music teacher but dies due to a small misstep and gets bumped into “The Great Before”- a fantastical place where souls get new personalities.
