TV show “Bhabhi ji ghar par hai”and “Big Boss 11” winner Shilpa Shinde has taken a big decision for her career. Shilpa Shinde joins Congress on Tuesday in the presence of senior Congress leaders. Let me tell you that even before Shilpa many artists have got the support of different parties. Shilpa Shinde joined Congress in the presence of President of Mumbai Congress Committee and party leader Charan Singh. The chairman of the committee welcomed Shilpa to the party by giving her a bouquet.

According to buzz, Shilpa can contest Lok Sabha elections in Mumbai. However, she refused to comment on the same as of now. She told reporters at the induction function that she wanted Congress chief Rahul Gandhi to be the next Prime Minister. “The Congress party has run the country for ages. This is why I decided to join it. Today, the country is in dire need of change and only the Congress can bring about this change,” she said.

Mumbai Congress President Sanjay Nirupam said Shilpa Shinde is a popular artist and she had plenty of options of joining any political party. But she chose the Indian National Congress. When her team approached us expressing her desire to join the Congress and work for the organisation, we reciprocated by welcoming her.

For the uninitiated, Shilpa made her debut on television in 1999. However, she got her share of fame with ‘& TV‘ popular sitcom Bhabhi Ji Ghar Par Hain. Her performance as Angoori Bhabhi was loved by the audience. Notably, her exit from the show was quite controversial and made her the talk of the town. Shilpa was eventually replaced by Shubhangi Atre.

Post her stint on the reality show Bigg Boss 11, Shilpa was missing from the small screen. Though she was offered several shows, she turned down all of them. Apparently, politics was on Shilpa’s mind for a long time. “What has attracted Shilpa Shinde to politics might be her desire to do something for the people,” a source told.
