Akshay Kumar’s Gold May Hit The Century In Its First Weekend At The Box-Office

Akshay Kumar-starrer Gold may touch the coveted Rs 100 crore mark by the end of its first weekend at the box-office, predicts film trade analyst Sumit Kadel. The film has opened to an astounding response.

Gold, headlined by Akshay Kumar, has opened to an astounding response at the box-office, suggest early trade estimates. The sports drama, directed by Reema Kagti, registered an occupancy in the range of 45 per cent to 50 per cent in its morning shows on Day 1, claims a report by Bollywood Hungama. By the evening, trends suggest, the film showed exceptional growth which must have ensured a massive opening day total. According to film trade analyst Sumit Kadel, Gold would have earned nothing less than Rs 24 crore-Rs 25 crores on its first day.

In an exclusive conversation with Zoom TV Digital, he shares, “While the final numbers are yet to be out, I don’t think Gold would have earned anything less than Rs 24 crore-Rs 25 crores. The film critics have given a thumbs up to the film and the word of mouth is completely in its favour. So in such a scenario, Rs 24 crore-Rs 25 crores on Day 1 would be no surprise.”

Predicting the first-weekend total for the film, he says, “Going by how it has performed on an opening day, the film should easily touch the Rs 100 crore mark by the end of its first weekend. It’s a five-day weekend, so Gold has quite a lot of time to reach this number.”

Gold, which is inspired from real events, also stars Mouni Roy, Amit Sadh, Kunal Kapoor, Sunny Kaushal and Vineet Kumar Singh in important roles, among others.
