Akshay Kumar, who is currently awaiting the release of R Balki’s PadMan on February 9, has his hands full this year with Reema Kagti’s Gold, Rajinikanth-starrer 2.0 and the recently announced Kesari. But we get to hear that the actor has decided to act in Hindi remake of South Indian film Kanchana 2. He will reprise the role of choreographer turned actor and filmmaker Raghava Lawrence.
Trade analyst Ramesh Bala shared the news on his Twitter account, ”@akshaykumar to remake @offl_Lawrence – @taapsee ‘s 2015 Blockbuster #Kanchana2 in Hindi..”

With the collections of around Rs 120 Cr at the worldwide box office, Kanchana 2 was a huge hit. Apart from Lawrence, it also stars Taapsee Pannu, Nithya Menon and Kovai Sarala in key roles.
This isn’t the first time that Akshay has shown interest in South films. From Gabbar Is Back to Boss to Rowdy Rathore to Holiday, he has been a part of many hit remakes. And this time, he has picked up a horror film for a remake.
Bollywood producers Prerna Arora and Arjun Kapoor of KriArj Entertainment are going to bankroll Kanchana’s Hindi remake. Raghava Lawrence himself will helm this remake. The makers are planning to start the regular shoot of the film in September and the movie will release in the first half of 2019.
