Reliance to start its Kirana-retail venture Jio Mart

Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance is setting a new Kirana-led retail application- Jio Mart, which is expected to compete the online retail markets like Grofers and Big Baskets.

Jio Mart has already started its initial tests in areas like Kalyan, Navi Mumbai and Thane, and will soon be launched nationally. Reliance is right now collaborating with the local Kirana stores.

“Currently, Kirana stores have been invited to register on the platform”, a source said. However, there is no official statement by the company yet.

Jio Mart app will soon available on Google Play Store, and will be available for the customer. This is a chance for small business to grow.

“What Reliance will do is to integrate the inventory and other grocery products from the neighbourhood Kirana on the platform. On its part, the company, will also supply products to the kirana at the wholesale rates by aggregating purchasing requirements,” a source said.
